Inivited Plenary Lectures
Plenary lectures (30 min) will introduce the relevant research fields followed by presentations from the speakers’ laboratories. The following research areas will be covered in three sections:
Section I: Breeding & Breeding Methods, Genetic Resources & Diversity
Section II: Nutritional & Technological Quality
Section III: Cytogenetics & Molecular Breeding
Invited Speakers
P. Åman , Uppsala: Health aspects of rye
A. Aniol , Radzików: Breeding for aluminium tolerance
D. Boros , Radzików: Quality aspects of rye for feed purposes
H.H. Geiger , Hohenheim: Strategies of hybrid rye breeding
A.A. Goncharenko , Nemchinowka-1: Ecological resistance of winter rye and other cereals
P. Gustafson , Columbia: Targeting at economically important genes
N. Jouve , Alcalá: Cytogenetic research in rye
L. Madej , Radzików: Situation of rye breeding in Eastern Europe (inquired)
T. Miedaner , Hohenheim: Utilization of genetic resources in hybrid rye breeding
N. Stein , Gatersleben: Genomic synteny among cereals
P. Wilde , Bergen: Genetic Diversity within and among Middle- and East- European Rye Populations Determined by Phenotypic and SSR Marker Data.Short Lectures
In addition to plenary lectures, short original contributions related to the above topics will be accepted as short lectures (15 min) or posters. Participants should indicate on the application form whether they prefer an oral or poster presentation. The organisers will decide whether a paper can be presented orally or as a poster, and this will depend on the number of applications and the time available. Participants will be informed about their contribution well in advance of the beginning of the symposium.
Poster Presentations
All posters will be displayed throughout the symposium. For each poster a space of 0,9 m in width and 1,20 m in height is available. The poster should be mounted in the evening of the day of arrival, Thuesday, June 26nd, 2005.
