Dear Colleagues,

the Federal Centre for Breeding Research on Cultivated Plants (BAZ) will host the 8th International EUCARPIA Symposium on Rye Breeding and Genetics in 2006, and would like to welcome the rye community in Rostock and Groß Lüsewitz, Germany. The BAZ location in Groß Lüsewitz stands in a long tradition of plant breeding in agricultural crops which traces back to 1948 when the former Institute of Plant Breeding was founded with its first director Prof. Dr. Rudolf Schick. Nowadays, two of the eight BAZ institutes are located at Groß Lüsewitz.

Since not all researchers in rye are members of the EUCRAPIA, it would be helpful if members could forward a copy of this First Announcement to individuals and organizations that may be interested in attending the meeting.

Looking forward to welcome you at our place,
Peter Wehling
(responsible for organization), Groß Lüsewitz
